One of GigMasters’ rising stars performed recently for a celebrity insider event in Los Angeles. Beginning in 2008, the Hollywood Domino & Bovet 1822 Pre-Oscar Gala has called upon Hollywood’s elite to support numerous non-profit organizations around the globe. Over the years, these events have gained enormous support for various charities. This year’s gala benefited The Artists for Peace and Justice, a non-profit organization supporting the issue of poverty, specifically in Haiti.
The event was held at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, CA. Over 300 of Hollywood’s finest were in attendance at the film noir themed gala, posing on the red carpet and being interviewed by the extensive press. The event has created over a billion impressions in online, print, and television media worldwide.
Entertainment was provided by GigMasters’ Jazz Band, The N8+ Jazz Band (Newport Beach, CA), a black-tie ensemble playing jazz standards in the style of Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra. This talented Jazz Band was excited about the celebrity-studded event and put on a great show. The event planner who organized this glamorous gala commented, “Nate and the band were so much fun to watch and listen to during the event.” The event creator, Daya Fernandez, called the performance “amazing” and said she intends to use the band again.
In past years, Seth MacFarlane (who hosted the 2013 Academy Awards), crooned Sinatra classics for the Hollywood Domino party. While Seth passed the entertainment torch at this year’s gala to The N8+ Jazz Band, lead vocalist Nate noted, “I’m not waiting by the phone to be asked to host the Oscars next year.”
Not only did the guests enjoy the performance, vocalist Nate commented, “It was a phenomenal experience. The audience loved it. The stage, lighting, sound system, and crew were everything you would expect at a red-carpet event. We got to use the same sound and lighting crew that supported Jackson Browne, who played right before we did. We have never played with that much support. I’d love to do it again.”
The band performed many songs from the Great American Songbook, like “Fly Me to the Moon” and “All of Me.” “We are seeing a resurgence of interest in jazz music. Younger crowds enjoy hearing Michael Buble and Sinatra; Buble being the more modern jazz music. We’re excited to continue,” said Nate.
Event hosts included Paul Haggis, the co-founder of Artists for Justice and Peace, and the first screenwriter to write two Best Film Oscar winners back-to-back (Million Dollar Baby and Crash). As well as actor Gerard Butler, and fashion designer of DKNY, Donna Karan. The APJ Board of Directors includes many famous celebrities such as Ben Stiller and Olivia Wilde.
“Hollywood Domino has been one of our favorite gigs ever, and certainly the most high-profile event we have headlined. Credit is definitely due GigMasters, which is how they found us,” said Nate.
